MULTI-FAMILY MANAGEMENT, DEVELOPMENT FIRM NAMES TWO NEW VICE PRESIDENTS
Virginia Beach, Va. – Following another year of exceptional growth at the Virginia Beach-based multi-family property management and development company, The Franklin Johnston Group is pleased to announce the promotion of six employees, including two new vice presidents:
Rian Cuthriell has been named Vice President of Human Resources
Matt McBroom has been named Vice President of Property Operations
Megan Kovacevich has been promoted to Portfolio Manager
Aurelia Vaughan has been promoted to Senior Community Manager
Destiny Pardo has been promoted to Senior Community Manager
Craig Dorler has been promoted to Debt and Equity Manager
“As our company grows, our people are growing right along with us, and that’s making a real and lasting difference in our performance and our sustained success,” said The Franklin Johnston Group President and Chief Operating Officer, Taylor Franklin. “These six employees exemplify our commitment to excellence in every way.”
Rian Cuthriell joined the company as a Portfolio Manager just as the company opened its doors in 2013. With her early success and the young firm’s fast growth, she was soon named Human Resources Manager and charged with developing and executing a new human resources strategy that aligned with the company’s core values and business objectives. Her continued success, along with her tireless volunteer work to execute premier company and sponsorship events, earned Cuthriell the company’s most prestigious honor in 2017 – The Wendell C. Franklin Award of Excellence.
“Rian works extremely hard and delivers results,” said Chris McKee, President of Operations, “but perhaps her greatest contribution is an infectious positivity about this company and the people who comprise it. Rian is one of those rare people who make it enjoyable to be at work every day.”
Matt McBroom’s promotion as Vice President of Property Operations marks the third time he has been promoted since joining the team as a Portfolio Manager in 2014. For the past two years, McBroom has led the company’s Northern Virginia property operations team, overseeing the day-to-day operations, including The Group’s conventional, affordable and tax credit assets in Fredericksburg, Woodbridge, Manassas, Dumfries, Gainesville, Stafford, and Washington, D.C.
“Matt is an extraordinary leader who has worked tirelessly to build a great team and provide every team member with outstanding structure and support,” said McKee. “Most importantly, he has done so while embodying The Franklin Johnston Group’s core values and culture.”
Megan Kovacevich’s promotion to Portfolio Manager from Senior Community Manager follows her management of The Group’s “Property of the Year” in both 2016 and 2017. Under her watch, both communities – Marina Shores and Spring Water in Virginia Beach – experienced their best years of Net Operating Income performance.
Kovacevich’s initial portfolio will be comprised of Spring Water in Virginia Beach and Preston Trails in Portsmouth/Chesapeake, with North Oaks Landing in Raleigh being transitioned later this month. She will also lead due diligence efforts on several upcoming properties.
Aurelia Vaughan has been named Senior Community Manager. In her previous position as Community Manager, she led the firm’s South Pointe Landing community in Richmond to its best year in more than a decade and helped in a successful disposition. She continued to excel in lease-ups while stabilizing collections and guiding management transitions at several other key properties. In addition to property oversight, her new role will include spearheading training at properties and maximizing rent collections.
Destiny Pardo’s promotion to Senior Community Manager follows several years of successfully managing two key Franklin Johnston Group properties in Chantilly, Va. Despite stiff competition from newly built communities nearby, those properties – The Abbey and Devon at South Riding – have remained full and collected while generating new revenue growth each year. Pardo will continue to manage those properties in her new role, while helping to oversee the Group’s Somerset Pointe and Park Shirlington communities.
Craig Dorler has been named Debt and Equity Manager within the development department. While working as Property and Development Accountant during the past two and one-half years, Craig has assisted the development group on various projects and has excelled in managing development property accounting through construction to stabilized operations. During this period, he developed analytical skills that demonstrated certain milestones new properties achieved that triggered very important funding objectives. “His accuracy, timeliness and dedication have been invaluable to both Accounting and Development,” said The Franklin Johnston Group’s Chief Development Officer, Tom Johnston.
Dorler new role as Debt and Equity Manager will include managing tax credit and loan applications, the equity and construction draws, valuations and appraisals and other special projects. His duties will require him to correspond directly with lenders, investors, lawyers, accountants, and appraisers thought the entire development process.
